Growing up Frank Love's main connection to photography was his Father's passion for documenting him and his older sister in nearly everything they did. With his dad wielding his old Nikon and a 50mm lens, Frank was never far from a camera. Whether it was Frank's curious nature for how things work, or perhaps just wanting to get out from in front of the camera that made him interested in photography is hard to say, though if not for his parents, it may have never become anything more. While in college studying filmmaking and the art of Cinematography, Frank grew his knowledge of the photographic arts still and moving. Upon moving to New York City to complete his Senior internship, Frank finally decided to give photography a fair shake. Frank won 4th place in Carl Zeiss' "Best of '07" online competition and the winning image currently graces their 35mm Lens catalog, and he has also had an image published in 'Filmmaker Magazine' of a photograph he took of the Director of a Film he worked on. He has found a love for documentary-like photography shooting by nothing but natural light and trying to abide by photojournalist type image standards for accuracy. Frank is a supporting member of APUG and the NPPA. These images are a mix of 35mm B&W and type 100 Polaroids, taken from NYC to his hometown of Mount Holly, NC. These images are of a friend getting a new tattoo one day when a group of Frank's friends asked if he could come along and take pictures while they got tattoos. Some of the Polaroids are of his family while preparing for this past Thanksgiving. The others are a sampling of some street photography in New York. http://www.flovephotography.com |
